Natural fibres:- Obtained from plants and animals(natural sources)
Eg:- Cotton, lines, Jute, silk, wool

• Synthetic fibres are not found in Nature.
• They are prepared artificially(man made).
• They are stronger than natural.
• Dry quickly,stretchable no wrinkles.
• Do not absorb sweat or allow body heat escape.

Examples: Nylon, rayon and polyester

1. The third and almost final step of making fabric is Dyeing & printing.
2. Dyeing is the process by which a fabric is given colour.
3. Printing gives the required design and it patterns to make it more attractive.

1. We need to wash clothes to remove dirty & sweat with clean water & soap.
2. We must also take care that all the soap or detergent in the clothes is washed out completely. Otherwise the clothes turn yellowish after ironing.
3. Bleeching & soaking in indigo powder, commonly known as neel, and then dried in the sun. sometimes they should be bleeched.
4. Iron clothes after dried,then makes a person look tidy and smart.
5. Silk and Woollen clothes need gentle washing and dry cleaning.

1. Rat, insects, silverfish and moths harm clothes.
2. Clothes need good care, especially silk and woollen clothes because certain insects feed on silk and wool.
3. Woollen and silk clothes should be dried completely in sun before storing.
4. Keep mothballs or dried neem leaves between the folds of woollen clothes. These keeps insects away.

• In hot weather- clothes that keep the body cool and dry
• Cotton clothes are best because they absorb sweat easily.
• Light coloured clothes- reflect the heat.
• In the cold places- wear woolen clothes to protect from cold.
• Hilly areas people wear layers of woollen clothes the warm air is trapped between the layers of there woollen clothes which make us warm.
• During rainy weather, we wear rain coats made of water proof material to protects us from rain.

Some clothes define the different professions of different people.

Socks and Shoes:- we wear to protect us from dust, heat, cold, insects & germs. May get cuts if we walk barefoot, cause infection.
