Day to Day Maths
Definition

Math is a part of our lives, Wherever you go, whatever you do, you are using math daily without even realizing it. It just comes naturally.

Earth takes 24 hrs to complete one rotation on its axis and this time period is called a Day.

Day is also considered as the unit of measurement of time.

Time is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years.

While counting time, it should be remembered that, the "longer hand" is use to count minutes and the "shorter hand" is use to count hours.

#### For example:

• Activities carried out by kids during a day.

1. Waking up in the morning at 6 o'clock.

2. Brushing our teeth and having bath at 6:10 .

3. Praying to god at 6:30 .

4. Eating breakfast with the family at 7 o'clock.

5. Leaving for school at 8 o'clock.

6. Having lunch at 12 o'clock.

7. We play with our friends in the evening at 5 o'clock.

8.We do our homework in the evening at 6 o'clock.

9. Dinner with the family at 8 o'clock.

10. Back to the bed at 9 o'clock.

Learning by money
Money:

We need Money to buy things in the market. Money comes in different denominations like 2000 Rs, 500 Rs, 100Rs, 50Rs, 20Rs, 10Rs, 5rs notes etc., and coins like 5 rupee, 1 rupee or 50 paise, 25 paise, 20 paise etc.,

• Money is very useful to us.Because it helps us to buy things in the market.
• In our country India, money is in rupees which is denoted by "₨", and paise by "P".
• Rupees are found in the form of both notes and coins where as paise are found only in the form of coins.

For example : Shanu and Mannu wanted to buy some snacks at the school canteen. So, they carried 2 notes of ₨10, 4 coins of ₨ 5, 1 coin of ₨ 2 and 7 coins of ₨1. How much money in all did they carry to school?
Solution: 2 notes of ₨10 = ₨ 10 × 2 = ₨20.00
4 coins of ₨ 5 = ₨ 5 × 4 = ₨ 20.00
1 coins of ₨ 2 = ₨1 × 2 = ₨ 2.00
7 coins of ₨ 1 = ₨7 × 1 = ₨7.00
Total amount=20+20+2+7 = ₨ 49
so, they carried ₨ 49 to school.
